About RMCOA

The Commissioned Officers Association of the USPHS (COA) is a voluntary professional organization of Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS). The Rocky Mountain Branch of the Commissioned Officers Association (RMCOA) endeavors to advance the PHS Commissioned Corps by uniting and serving approximately 60 USPHS Commissioned Officers and advocating for their interests through leadership and communication.  Led by the Executive Committee, the RMCOA is working to:

  • Advance public health knowledge
  • Elevate the professional standards and efficiency of public health workers
  • Promote the interests of the USPHS and its officers
  • Strengthen the relationships between -area USPHS Commissioned Officers and other public health workers
RMCOA is led by an Executive Committee consisting of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary, all of whom must be active COA members.  The executive committee are elected annually by the membership and elections will be held in the Spring and new leadership must take effect by June 30th.  
 
Click here to review and comment on the latest version of the COA Bylaws which are up for a vote by the membership due to some proposed amendments to add a Communications Lead and Area Directors of Activity as designated positions within the leadership structure.  The vote to accept or reject the amended bylaws will be held from March 6, 2018 to March 26, 2018.

Article Ten - Amendments
The bylaws may be amended, repealed, or altered in whole or in part by a two-thirds vote of the members 1) present at any duly organized meeting of the branch (given a quorum is present as defined in Article Five of these bylaws) or 2) via electronic vote (e.g., online survey) provided that a copy of any amendment proposed for consideration has been emailed to each member qualified to vote at least 15 days before the meeting or close of the electronic vote.
