PHU Updates

The Commissioned Corps Headquarters updated CCMIS to reflect PHU updates. Effective January 1, 2023 the following significant changes include:

  • Virtual PHUs are no longer accepted. The Medical Affairs Branch (MAB) recognizes there are rare circumstances when in-person physicals are not possible. In those instances, MAB should be contacted immediately with documentation justifying the cause.
  • Physical examinations completed earlier than 2 months before your birth month will not be accepted.
  • All PHUs must include a blood pressure, pulse, current height and weight and also taping if your BMI exceeds 27.5 kg/m2. Taping should be documented on the PHS 7044-1 and be included in your PHU submission. Height and weight requirements apply to all officers.
  • Officers with active pregnancy waivers and elevated BMI will be allowed to upload PHUs without entering taping measurements. The 2023 PHU Submission Checklist includes a check box for identification of those with a pregnancy waiver.
  • Due to changes in the Active Duty Dental Plan, MAB will continue to accept dental examinations that were done no more than 1 year prior to your birth month.
