Deployment Preparation Plans Readiness Requirement Released

Officers should be aware that effective March 31, 2023, the Deployment Preparation Plan (DPP) will become a readiness requirement. This update was recently approved and is reflected in Commissioned Corps Instruction (CCI) 241.01, “Readiness and Duty Requirements”.

The DPP enables officers to proactively plan and document the care of their family and personal affairs in preparation for deployments and other duty-related absences. By identifying potential challenges that may arise during such absences, officers can focus fully on the mission knowing that family matters and home station responsibilities are addressed.

The DPP Form is now available on the CCMIS webpage under Readiness section. The DPP will be due annually for all officers, regardless of birth month, prior to the expiration of the previous year’s DPP. Officers may begin to submit their DPP beginning immediately through March 31, 2023. The first readiness check for DPP will be April 1, 2023. Officers who are missing a DPP in their files on 12:00 a.m. ET on April 1, 2023, will be identified as “Not Qualified”. Officers will need to update and resubmit their plan after any change in personal status or family circumstances within three months. Any off-cycle update or submission will restart the annual clock, and the following DPP will be due a year after the most recent submission.
